Thank you for attending our Meet the Teacher events this past week! We can't wait to kick off another exciting school year!
As a reminder, parents will not be able to walk their elementary school students into the building on the first day of school. Each campus will have staff available to accompany the students and escort them to their classroom.
If you were not able to attend Meet the Teacher, please contact your child's campus for your child's SMART tag and schedule.

* ATTENTION PARENTS *
After consideration, we have updated the drop off and pick up procedures at Douglass Learning Academy's new location to make things easier for parents and students. When coming to drop off your student in the morning and pick up your student in the afternoon, please come down Jefferson Avenue and enter the DLA facility through our entrance gate. You will be asked to follow the arrows to drop off or pick up your student, then exit out the same gate you entered.
For students driving to school, they will come in the same way and park on the south end of the parking lot.
We ask that you please do not drive down Shell Avenue to visit DLA. The circle driveway is reserved for Eastside Elementary. Only school buses will be allowed to use the circle driveway.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday, August 6. Doors will open for students at 6:55 AM.
The 2024 Varsity Football Season Ticket Package is now available for purchase. The Season Ticket Package includes 1 ticket in reserve seating for all 5 varsity football home games.
Season Ticket packages can only be purchased online. Attached is a QR code that takes you to our website. You can also go directly to the CISD website and under athletics is a purchase ticket link.

CISD Community - We've had some questions arise regarding the portion of the sign-up form that states public comments will only be allowed for 30 minutes. To be clear, this ONLY applies to regular board meetings, and will not apply to the special meeting on July 30th. Public comments will continue until all speakers are accommodated.

We encourage you to complete this, print it, and physically provide it to the Board President before the meeting begins. Sign-ups will also be available in person until the start of meeting at 6:00PM. All sign-ups will CLOSE at 6:00PM on July 30th. If you wish to sign-up in person, we encourage you to arrive early in order to avoid any potential delays.

The 2024-25 school year brings some changes to Douglass Learning Academy, as the campus has moved to its new location at 1602 Shell Ave. DLA will now be housed in the front portables across from Eastside Elementary. Here are some tips for parents and students on how to navigate our new space.
For student drop off and pick up, please drive down Shell St. (the yellow arrows on the map) and follow the circle drive to drop off in front of the building. School starts at 7:15, so please have students dropped off before that time. Dismissal is at 2:25. In order to keep traffic from building up on Shell Ave, please do not begin lining up for dismissal until 2:15.
For student and staff parking, you will need to drive down Jefferson St in order to access the DLA parking lot (the red arrows on the map). Remember students, school starts at 7:15, and the gate for the parking lot will be locked at 7:30. Any arrivals after 7:30 will need to call the DLA front desk at 281-592-7595 for assistance.
HOODIE POLICY UPDATE
The Cleveland ISD school board has approved for students to be able to wear hooded clothing for the 2024-2025 school year. However, while inside any CISD campus or facility, any hoods that are up must be removed to ensure safety and clear identification.

BACKPACK UPDATE
The Cleveland ISD School Board has approved for MESH backpacks to be allowed for student use during the 2024-2025 school year. Students may use mesh or clear backpacks only.

The Santa Fe Administration and Activities Building is open as a cooling center from 9AM-7PM. See more info below.
After assessing the power situation and communicating with Entergy Electric, Cleveland ISD will be closed for the remainder of this week. We plan to reopen at regular time on Monday, July 15th.
The special school board meeting concerning the potential reconsideration of the Superintendent contract has been rescheduled for Monday, July 15th at 6:00PM.
Due to impacts from Hurricane Beryl, all Cleveland ISD campuses and facilities will be CLOSED on Tuesday, July 9th, and Wednesday, July 10th, 2024. All district functions and events are canceled. We will inform the community about Thursday, July 11th at a later time.
Out of an abundance of caution due to the forecasted weather conditions for the greater Houston area, all Cleveland ISD campuses and facilities will be CLOSED on Monday, July 8th. This includes all summer activities, trainings, workshops, and professional development events.
We will inform the community about the plans for Tuesday, July 9th in the near future.
